My name is Loren Felsher and I am thrilled to be the full-time counselor at Cold Spring Elementary School.  I would like to introduce myself and tell you about my role as your school counselor.  Prior to coming to CSES, I was a counselor at Daly ES and Waters Landing ES.  I am also a certified yoga teacher and mother to 2 children, a teen and a tween.

My goal is to help all students succeed in school. This can be hard when students are facing emotional, social, or academic challenges. I am here to help children, teachers, and families identify, address, and mitigate these challenges so that all students thrive academically and socially. Throughout the year, the Cold Spring comprehensive counseling program includes:

Classroom Lessons/Meetings:  I come in to each class 1-2 times a month to teach social/emotional skills.  Topics often include emotion regulation, study skills, growth mindset, friendship making, and stress reduction.

Small Group Counseling:  Group counseling will be offered throughout the school year.  The groups generally range from 6-8 students and last for about 6 sessions. Group topics depend on the needs of the students, but can range from social skills, to anger management, separation/divorce, or grief.   The students for groups can be recommended by parents/guardians, or by staff members. Permission slips must be signed in order for a student to participate in a group after the first informal session.

Lunch Bunches:  These are a fun way for me to get to know the students in an informal setting.

Individual Counseling:  One-on-one counseling support is available to all Cold Spring students.  This support is intended to address specific emotional, behavioral, or social concerns.  Students may self-refer or be referred to the counselor by teachers and/or parents.  Individual counseling is not therapy. Individual counseling is provided as needed and does not require parent consent prior to counseling.

Consultations:  I am available to meet with teachers, administrators, and/or parents to discuss the needs of students. I am here for all students and want to ensure that your child has a productive and positive school year!
