Universal Screening: all grade 5 students will be reviewed centrally. Centrally staffed selection committees. Name and school blind process. No more teacher/school recommendations. No more submitting of applications. Online above-grade level assessments are key. Parents will receive a letter regarding their potential candidacy for the magnet programs at Eastern and Takoma Park in mid-October.

 

Students who demonstrate an instructional need for enriched and accelerated instruction will be considered for one of the seats in these magnet programs and will be assessed in November at Cold Spring during the school day.

 

**Parents/guardians may request their child be evaluated should their child not be identified through the central review. Parents can also decline testing. Due date for this request is October 15th in writing to me.
